It's been a while

Well the first games are coming up this Saturday, game and picture schedules are now online, and the new pony league sign is up at Derry park (our apologies to the rather large bat colony we kicked out of the old sign). It's been a wet season so far, but hopefully the weather will improve for games.

Coaches, if you need to reschedule a game look at the game schedule and find a day that you and the other coach can agree on for a makeup game. Then email it to me (secretary@mcpony.com). I will keep the online schedule updated.

The original intention of this blog was to detail the amount of work that goes into each season. Unfortunately we got so busy that I missed a lot, but I will continue logging as much as I can, when I can. If you wish to volunteer let me know. It is not to late to help out.

So, as we get this season started I want to thank all the volunteers, parents, and players for putting up with this new board learning the ropes. We have big plans for the future and we hope you will all join us in continuing support of Mifflin County Pony League.

Hard Days Work

We put in a long, tough day today at the Derry fields. We painted the dugouts of the green and blue fields, fixed and painted bleachers, and prepared the fields to be worked on tomorrow. It was too wet to put dimatex on the fields, but we got most of the standing water brushed away.

Tomorrow we will be meeting again at the Derry Township Community Park fields again to finish the brown dugouts and work on the fields themselves some more. We will me at Derry Park at 12:00 and would appreciate any help we can get.

Those of you who helped today thank you. Some could only provide a couple of hours, and others did more. Any help is appreciated. Time for me to rest up and prepare for tomorrow.

Now the fun starts.

It has been so busy getting this season together that I haven't had time to post in a while. It all is starting to pay off as we get our season started and kids get a chance to break in those gloves for a little b-ball.

Our fund raiser is a little different this year. We had to increase the price from $1.00 per candy bar to $1.50. Make sure you get your money to your coaches in due time, so they can turn it in on April 19th. Each coach will need to turn in a check made out to "MCPL" for $624.00 at the April 19th meeting in order to get their uniforms.

Saturday April 4th will be a volunteer work day. Anyone who wishes to help please be down at Derry Township Community Park at the Pony League Baseball fields at 9:00 AM. If you have any tools that could help us (saws, drills, etc..) please bring them. We will be fixing dugouts and bleachers as well as painting them.

I am sure there is a lot more to write about, but I am tired. I will try to post more as soon as I can. Now let's get out on those fields and have some fun.
